Islamabad: 27th August 2015

H.E. Mr. Hiroshi Inomata, Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan, inaugurated the House of Light (HOL) School in Pind Begwal (Islamabad) today which was built with the financial support of US$107,080 provided by the Government of Japan to the Horizon International Trust, which is a non-governmental organization actively working in the education sector. The inauguration ceremony was attended by members of Horizon International Trust, the staff of HOL school and children from the vicinity who are expected to get admission in this school. The construction of this school was made possible with the financial support from Embassy of Japan under its Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects (GGP) Program.
The new school has been designed to accommodate approximately 225 children from preschool to elementary levels. By virtue of this project, it is expected that new opportunities will be opened for the rural youth, both boys and girls in the area, which would eventually contribute to multifaceted socio-economic development.
At the inauguration ceremony, Ambassador Inomata stressed upon the importance of basic education for the development of nations and highlighted the critical need for creating opportunities for Pakistani youth. He also expressed his hope that this project would improve the welfare of children in the area, and in addition would undoubtedly strengthen the existing friendly relations between the people of Japan and Pakistan. Note: The GGP Program is an initiative of the Japanese government with the belief that in consideration of the enormity of the challenges being faced by the world today, development assistance should not only be limited to governments, but also be channeled to the grassroots level through civil society organizations. Since its beginning in 1989 GGP has supported more than 340 projects in Pakistan, with a contribution of more than 2.4 billion Japanese Yen.
